On 31 August 2021, a new Logistics Centre was opened at the company SWISS KRONO sp. z o.o. in Żary. The investment of over PLN 24 million combined four large-scale warehouses, an automated high-bay warehouse and a new terminal into one common transport and logistics route. The changes introduced optimise SWISS KRONO’s warehouse management and pave the way for further investments in warehouse facilities.
“Today at SWISS KRONO we load 50,000 lorries per year and this process will now be supported by state-of-the-art technological solutions based on radio and laser technology. This way the time it takes for our products to reach customers is shortened. Our next objective is to build an automated high-bay warehouse for furniture boards and a packaging warehouse,” Maciej Karnicki, President of the Management Board of SWISS KRONO sp. z o.o., informed at the meeting.
Planning this investment, the Company bore in mind the human factor as well. Its material aspect is that the loading time will be reduced by 20%, thus shortening drivers’ stay on our premises.
“We know how important it is to allow drivers to relax a bit after loading, take a shower or have a meal. For this purpose, we have prepared special sanitary facilities and a canteen. In addition, we have taken care of the safety of both drivers and SWISS KRONO employees, which is at present of considerable importance in the context of the global health threat posed by COVID-19. Lorry registration, loading or de-registration do not require drivers’ interaction with SWISS KRONO employees, this is an unmanned and intuitive system. It is our belief that this way we directly influence not only the quality of our service, but also road safety,” Piotr Kaczmarek, Member of the Management Board and Logistics Director at SWISS KRONO sp. z o.o., recapitulated.
The investment responds to changing market needs, particularly in the field of logistics. Its general contractor was the company TANDEM sp. z o.o. from Żary.
The opening of the Logistics Centre in Żary was attended by representatives of national, regional, local and municipal authorities, partners, SWISS KRONO Group employees led by CEO Martin Brettenthaler, the media and our Company’s friends.
